Karen Munson-Gray is the founder of Gray’s Matter Consulting Services, where she provides financial coaching and consulting as well as residential contracting and project management services. Across both areas of her work, Karen brings the same approach: clarity, structure, thoughtful decision-making, and responsible stewardship.

Karen is a Certified Master Financial Coach who works with professionals, couples, individuals, families, and business owners who want greater clarity, structure, and confidence in their financial decisions.
For many people, financial stress isn’t simply about income. Even those who earn good money can experience financial smoke signals—recurring patterns or pressure points that indicate something needs attention before a larger financial problem develops. Without a clear system for managing money, it can be difficult to understand what is happening, make confident decisions, or build lasting financial stability.
Karen understands the importance of financial structure firsthand.
More than twenty years ago, she and her husband made the decision to approach their finances differently. Rather than allowing money to remain reactive or uncertain, they intentionally developed systems that supported their family and long-term priorities. Over time, that commitment allowed them to build greater financial clarity and control and ultimately live a debt-free lifestyle.
That personal experience eventually became the foundation for Karen’s work as a financial coach.
Through Gray’s Matter Consulting Services, Karen helps clients understand what their numbers are revealing, identify financial smoke signals, and create practical systems for managing income, spending, debt, savings, and financial priorities. Her goal is not simply to help clients address an immediate financial concern, but to equip them with the clarity and tools needed to make informed financial decisions long after coaching end.
Residential Contracting & Project Management
Karen is also a licensed Tennessee residential contractor, providing residential contracting and project management services through Gray’s Matter Consulting Services.
Her role is centered on bringing structure and oversight to residential projects. From defining the scope of work and evaluating estimates to coordinating qualified trade professionals, monitoring project costs, managing schedules, and maintaining communication, Karen helps homeowners navigate the many moving pieces involved in renovations, repairs, reconstruction, and residential improvement projects.
Just as financial decisions benefit from clarity before action, residential projects benefit from a clearly defined scope, realistic expectations, responsible cost management, and consistent oversight.
Karen’s approach is straightforward: understand the project, establish the plan, coordinate the right resources, and manage the work responsibly from beginning to completion.
